If you have been avoiding ‘Cockneys Vs Zombies‘ because of the title….well, then we’d probably understand. The zombie-comedy genre has been littered with poor movies since Shaun of the Dead was released in 2004 and suddenly made it popular and far more mainstream.
In the last decade we have seen zombies and zombie outbreaks used as a comic device with varying degrees of success, and one of the signals that has emerged for detecting the ones you should probably avoid is the title………’Zombie Strippers‘ anyone?
Cockneys Vs Zombies is one movie that has a title that is so literal, you can pretty much determine the level of the humour and probably make a decent stab at the plot…..however, surprisingly this is actually a pretty decent entry to the zombie comedy genre.
Released in 2012 and directed by Matthias Hoene, the movie follows a bank job that has gone wrong, and a retirement home that is under threat of closure – and it all quickly becomes irrelevant when the inevitable zombie outbreak occurs and everyone is under threat.
High-brow entertainment this is not, but as an exercise in fun there is a lot going for this film. Don’t expect anything new to be added to the genre, this is a comedy caper movie at heart, set against a zombie apocalypse.
We have pulled this Kill Count video from the rotten heart of the internet that highlights some of the action. Doesn’t really contain spoilers as such, but if you haven’t seen the movie already then we’d urge you to check it out. If you don’t care and just want to want some zombie killing action then check out the kill count below.
